This program is offered by "Terre des langues" under the responsibility of a very experienced team of French teachers. It is conceived for students between 15 and 17 with at least 2 years of French and having a very strong interest in arts and history. It is important to note that, even though students use public transportation, this program requires a lot of walking, which they should fully enjoy.

Program

The program is prepared for groups of 6 to 8 students in one class.

The goal of the program is to allow foreign students to study the French language and discover Paris in details. The daily visits of Paris are used as a teaching support. Students will have to build up a diary and bring the necessary material to gather documents, pictures etc.

Most mornings are spent in class: 3 periods of 50mn 4 days a week - 1 full day visit per week

- 1st period : oral practice (accentuation, conversation with visual support)
- 2nd period : reviewing the grammar through explanation and quizzes.
- 3rd period : preparing the afternoon visit : documentation and explanation. Study of the Paris map, the métro.

Afternoon visits

They are dedicated to a very thorough visit of Paris including history and actual living in Paris.

Week 1 - Discover the history of Paris :
- Day 1 : General guided Tour et La Tour Eiffel
- Day 2 : L'Ile de la cité, Notre Dame, Le Marais - Musée Carnavalet (museum on the history of Paris)
- Day 3 : Le quartier Latin, St Germain, la Sorbonne, les écoles célèbres, le Panthéon
- Day 4 : Le Musée du Louvres
- Day 5 : Day in Versailles

Week two - Paris in Modern times :
- Day 1 : Les transports parisiens : le métro et le bus - Découverte du quartier des Halles et Beaubourg - shopping
- Day 2 : Le musée d'Orsay
- Day 3 : Full day in Paris : Les Champs Elysées et la Défense
- Day 4 : Le musée d'Art Moderne et la Maison de la radio
- Day 5 : Qu'aimeriez vous voir à Paris ? Les Catacombes ? Les égouts ?

Students will be hosted in the area of Enghien (20 mn north of Paris - famous for its lake and horse track). Host families are compensated. Weekends are spent with families. Students are given a "carte orange" - train (RER) pass for the daily visits.

Students willing to prolong their stay up to 3 or 4 weeks with a host family will have to cover an extra cost of €280 per week.

Prices

The price indicated includes everything (airport pick up, lunches, all entrance fees and transportation.

Best dates June and July. The program may be operated any time throughout the school year.
